Candle Burning 101

  1. When you light your candle for the first time it is important to keep it lit for 3-4 hours or long enough to liquify the entire top layer of wax. Allowing the candle to liquify from edge-to-edge creates a memory for future burns and will keep the opening wide ad prevent tunneling. *Try not to exceed 4 hours of burn time without a wick trim!
  2. Trim candle wicks to 1/4" before each use. This will help prevent soot and extend the life of the candle. Do not drop matches or other flammable items into the candle. By trimming your wicks before each use, you will get a longer and cleaner burn.
  3. Do not burn your candles all the way down to the very last drop of wax. When your candle has about a 1/4 inch of wax left, it is time to call it quits! If there is not enough wax left to absorb the heat, your jar could overheat. Know when to scoop out the remaining wax and prepare to repurpose!
  4. Keep candles away from curtains or anything around the candle that could ignite. Keep in mind that curtains and other objects can move and come into contact with a burning flame. Do not burn candles in a draft.
  5. Always keep candles in sight when in use and keep away from children and pets.
  6. Never move a burning candle. Allow the candle to cool and wax to solidify before moving. The candle, container and/or wax can become extremely hot when in use.
  7. Use a candle plate to protect surfaces. Never put a candle directly on a surface that is flammable or could be damaged by heat or oil.
  8. If candle wick develops a mushroom carbo tip, extinguish the candle, allow to completely cool and remove the tip with a wick trimmer or by pinching between fingers using a tissue. This will ensure your candle burns evenly and prevent excess wick debris from falling into the candle.
  9. Always light your candle on a steady, stable surface.
  10. Take time to pause and enjoy an aromatic moment!
